Local artists and crafters have their creations on display this week in Gatlinburg.
The Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community Craft Show is going on this week at the Gatlinburg Convention Center. Members will exhibit and have for sale various works of fine art and traditional mountain crafts such as photography, pottery, jewelry, woodcarving, candles, wind chimes, basketry and many others.
More than just a craft show, this event showcases the heritage of the Southern Appalachian Mountain people. Many members of the Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community learned from their parents and grandparents as the skills and techniques were handed down from generation to generation.
If you go, the Craft Show runs April 16-19 and the hours are 10am-5pm Wednesday and Thursday, 10am-6pm on Friday and Saturday. Admission is free. The Gatlinburg Convention Center is located at 234 Historic Nature Trail in Gatlinburg.
