Sevier County Food Ministries is a voluntary interfaith ministry with a goal of ensuring no one in Sevier County goes hungry. Located at 890 Old Knoxville Highway in Sevierville, it operates Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Families in need may receive food assistance once per week. The organization provided more than 1,500 families with food this past week alone. In addition to food, they offer prayer and counseling upon request.
Sevier County Food Ministries operates a thrift store to generate funds to buy the food they distribute and depends heavily on donations of money and goods. They also provide clothing, blankets and household items to people during times of emergency. The Food Ministry Fiesta is the organization’s only big fundraising event each year. 100% of the event’s proceeds benefit the ministry. Their goal this year is to upgrade the facility’s freezer and cooler capacity to better serve those in need.
