Bloomin’ Barbeque & Bluegrass Friday & Saturday

Get ready to experience a spectacular event that brings top barbeque competitors from across the country and award-winning entertainers right here to Sevierville.

The 10th annual Bloomin’ Barbeque & Bluegrass festival is May 16 & 17, 2014 in downtown Sevierville and is jam packed with fun activities for everyone in the family. This two-day event has drawn nearly 37,000 attendees in the past.

Fifty barbecue cook teams will compete for the title of Tennessee State Champion and a share of $17,500 in cash and prizes in the Bush’s Best Tennessee State Championship Cook-Off. For music lovers, the event this year features some of the biggest names in Bluegrass music, up-and-coming artists on the Hard Rock Café Community Stage, and the Mountain Soul Vocal Competition honoring the songwriting of Sevierville’s favorite hometown girl, Dolly Parton.

“We are very proud of the lineup we’re offering for our 10th anniversary of the Bloomin’ Barbeque & Bluegrass festival,” says Sevierville Chamber of Commerce marketing director Amanda Marr.  “We have a solid lineup of quality artists – everyone from Grammy winners and Grand Ole Opry legends to wildly popular up-and-coming groups, like the SteelDrivers. Toes will definitely be tapping in downtown Sevierville this May.”

Children can have a blast on climbing walls, in bounce houses and playing with old-time toys in the Kids’ Zone. Try your hand at playing banjos, fiddles and other bluegrass instruments in the Bluegrass Music Tent. Event goers can also enjoy delicious foods and buy handmade arts & crafts products from dozens of vendors.

New this year is a ‘Late Night Jam’ hosted by four-time national banjo champion, Gary “Biscuit” Davis on Friday night from 10:00 pm – 3:00 am in the old Sevier County Bank building. Musicians from all over are encouraged to bring their instruments and jam with Gary and others to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Bloomin’ BBQ & Bluegrass.

“We’re adding five more hours of bluegrass and asking festival attendees to join in on the jam session – there’s no better way to celebrate our 10th anniversary,” Marr said. “Gary is a fabulous musician and entertainer and all of the musicians that come out to ‘jam’ will be in for a real treat!”

Admission and concerts are free thanks to great sponsors, including the Sevierville Chamber of Commerce which encourages you to stay in Sevierville while visiting Bloomin’ BBQ & Bluegrass.
