Sevierville’s 2014 Winterfest Kick Off offered food, entertainment and fun to an estimated 8,000 people who attended the event. The festivities featured performances from area dance troupes and choirs as well as business booths and children’s activities.
The children’s area offered holiday movies, fun activities and photos with Santa. Approximately thirty businesses sponsored booths and participated in the booth decorating contest. Lumberjack Feud won for Best Decorated Booth while Walters State Community College received the award for Best Overall Booth. The Sevierville Convention Center received an honorable mention for Best Overall Booth. The Mascot Dance Off was once again a favorite Winterfest Kick Off event, with the Sevierville Police Department mascot, Eddie the Eagle, taking first place.
This year, the City of Sevierville also held a coat drive to benefit Operation Warm Wings and Sevier County Food Ministries. Those who brought a new or gently used coat to donate received a 25th Anniversary commemorative Smoky Mountain Winterfest ornament. Coat donations can be made until November 14 at Sevierville City Hall.
“We had great weather this year,” says event organizer Kelly Stahlke. “That translated into a great crowd that really seemed to enjoy the event.”
Sevierville’s Winterfest Kick Off Music, Lights & Magic, is produced jointly by the City of Sevierville and the Sevierville Chamber of Commerce.
