Registration is now open for businesses that would like to take part in the Sevier County Job Fair in March.
The 18th Annual Sevier County Job Fair will be held March 18, 2015 at the Holiday Inn Convention Center in Pigeon Forge. This job fair is divided into two sessions. The morning session from 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. will feature businesses seeking to fill positions in non-tourism related industries, such as banking, insurance, healthcare, police/fire and real estate. During the afternoon session from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m., businesses such as hotels, restaurants and attractions will be looking for applicants to fill tourism related jobs. In order to participate, a business must have at least one or more job openings at the time of the event.
The Sevier County Economic Development Council, Sevier County, City of Gatlinburg, City of Pigeon Forge and City of Sevierville are hosting the event.
In 2014, about twenty businesses participated in the morning session and nearly sixty businesses had booths in the afternoon session. That job fair attracted around 850 job seekers.
“Sevier County Economic Development’s goal for the Job Fair is to join together Sevier County industry and business with Sevier County job seekers to enable the businesses to fill their staffing needs for permanent positions as well as part-time and summer employment,” said Janice Bettis, special projects manager for Sevier County Economic Development Council.
Job fair organizers provide a private interview space at the event, so businesses can interview potential employees on site.
The TN Career Coach will be set up in the parking lot to help job seekers polish their resume and interview skills. Applicants are encouraged to bring copies of their resume to the job fair, but those that do not have one prepared can complete a brief resume at the event. Copiers will be available for printing copies of resumes.
“Each year we have been able to increase the number of booths sponsored by our businesses, allowing our job seekers more opportunities to find employment,” Bettis said. “Last year, many job seekers walked out the door hired and ready to go to work. It is very gratifying to know we are helping to grow the economy in Sevier County.”
Business registration is $125 per session, or $200 for the entire day, if registering before March 1, 2015. Add $50 for late registration. The fee includes a booth with pipe & drape, 6-foot table and two chairs, booth sign, access to electricity, advertising, snacks and drinks. There is limited booth space available, so register early. The Sevier County Economic Development Council also sponsors a Sevier County Jobs website where businesses can post job opening and applicants can create a resume and search available jobs.
