Have you ever wanted to learn more about gardening or have a place to buy from many vendors at one time? The Flower & Garden Show and Sale, hosted by UT Extension and the Sevier County Area Master Gardeners Association, is Saturday, April 25, 2015 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Sevier County Fairgrounds, 754 Old Knoxville Highway in Sevierville.
Master Gardeners is a non-profit organization that devotes funding and thousands of hours of community service projects: 4-H scholarships, food ministries, community gardens and tomato seed planting for Sevier County School Kindergarten Classes, just to name a few.
The Flower & Garden Show and Sale is the main fundraiser that allows the Master Gardeners to do so much work for the community.
Local nurseries, landscaping specialists and suppliers of gardening essentials will be among about 25 exhibitors and organizations which will participate in this day-long event. Ornamental plants, herbs, vegetables, fruits, berries and gardening equipment will be for sale.
Take a guided tour of the new Teaching Patch Demo Garden designed and maintained by the Master Gardeners. Do you have any questions on how to get started or have problems in your garden? The “Ask a Master Gardener” booth can help you with everything from improving clay soils to identifying helpful or harmful plants and insects.
You can bring your pressure canner lid to have it tested for free while you visit the many vendors or look through the educational displays.
A room full of activities for children of all ages are among some of the wonderful things you can experience for a very low admission price. Adults are $3.00 or $2.00 with a non-perishable food item. Children under 12 are free. Refreshments will be for sale by the 4-H Club.
