Pigeon Forge Commissioner Candidate Leland Wykoff announces a brown bag breakfast and lunch open house at the Gatlinburg Pigeon Forge Airport Wednesday, April 22, 2015 from nine to five. Come by, bring your brown bag breakfast, brunch, lunch, or snack. We will provide your beverage, ice water and you can meet the Commission candidate Leland Wykoff.
Enjoy the views and your brown-bag meal from the observation deck at the Airport, located of Dolly Parton Parkway (next to Ogles Furniture). Learn about the operation of the Gatlinburg Pigeon Forge Airport and expansion projects such runway improvements. Then hop over next door and cast your early vote for Pigeon Forge City Elections at the Election Commission Office.
The Airport is supported, in part, by the city of Pigeon Forge and this will be a great opportunity to learn a bit about this agency and the opportunities for regional growth it represents. Proposed actions by the State of Tennessee, and Governor Haslam, would gut funding for the airport improvement fund by granting a tax cut to FedEx in excess of $21.5 million annually.
This funding cut could jeopardize the future growth of the Gatlinburg Pigeon Forge Airport as runway and facility improvements could delay or stall the future ability to handle commercial aircraft service into our area. This could place a further burden upon Pigeon Forge taxpayers to make up the shortfall.
The Tennessee Museum of Aviation, located at the Airport, has also graciously agreed to provide locals with a special $5.00 admission to see the Warbird Collection and Museum.
The Gatlinburg Pigeon Forge Airport is supported, in part, by the City of Pigeon Forge with a current annual allocation of $100,000.00.
