The public is invited to come out and enjoy an authentic crawfish boil with all the fixings, which will benefit Relay for Life.
The Relay for Life Team of Norma Dan Monkee’s 8th Annual Crawfish Boil will be held Saturday, June 13, 2015 in front of the Norma Dan Motel in Pigeon Forge. Admission is free. Starting at 11 a.m., visitors can buy two pounds of crawfish for $20 and it includes the fixings: potatoes, corn on the cob and sausage. BBQ ribs, chicken, pork and gumbo will also be for sale. Proceeds from the crawfish boil will benefit Relay for Life of Sevier County and the American Cancer Society.
Crawfish, crayfish, crawdads, freshwater lobsters, or mudbugs, no matter what you call them, people who’ve tried them either love them or hate them. But here is some advice if you think crawfish are not for you.
“If you’ve never tried them or you’ve tried them before and didn’t like them, you need to come by,” said Sophia Conerly with Relay for Life of Sevier County. “I was in the ‘tried them before and didn’t like them’ category, but tried them again last year and I found them delicious. The crew that cooks them brings the crawfish up fresh from the Deep South and cooks them to perfection. They will make a great summer night dinner.”
Relay for Life is a worldwide movement that raises money for the American Cancer Society fight against cancer, celebrates cancer survivors and remembers those lost to cancer.
