Old Forge Distillery’s 1830 Original Miller’s Blend and Coffee Flavored Moonshine were recently awarded Platinum Medals at the 2015 SIP Awards.
A 100-member judging panel at the 2015 SIP Awards, the world’s largest consumer tasting competition, awarded 1830 Original Miller’s Blend a Platinum medal in the “Unaged Whiskey/Moonshine” category and 1830 Original Coffee a Platinum medal in the “Flavored/Infused Whiskey” category. The award-winning moonshine crafted by Old Forge Distillery in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., is made with pure mountain spring water and freshly ground premium Tennessee grain from the historic Old Mill next door.
“There were more than 400 spirits submitted in this year’s competition by distilleries from around the world, and we were thrilled that our moonshine rose to the top. It really speaks to the quality and flavor of our handcrafted spirits,” said Old Forge Head Distiller Keener Shanton.
1830 Original Miller’s Blend is a 100-proof moonshine made with premium Tennessee corn, wheat, and barley and pure Smoky Mountain spring water. Miller’s Blend is sweet with notes of creamed corn and roasted almond.
1830 Original Coffee is a 60-proof coffee-flavored moonshine, inspired from coffee beans from the nearby Old Mill Restaurant and contains notes of espresso, sweet chocolate and dark cacao.
Old Forge Distillery also recently released three new flavored moonshines inspired by the Old Mill Kitchens – Vanilla Bean, Bananas Foster and Chocolate and Cherries.
The Old Forge Distillery is located at 170 Old Mill Ave. in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. and offers a moonshine tasting bar open daily.
