Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede has once again partnered with Food City stores and Pepsi to present the ninth annual Whoadeo children’s event on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015.
The prize-filled event, open to children ages three to 12, features stick horse competitions, a parade of horses, and costume contests in the Dixie Stampede arena along with a free outdoor carnival from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Children participate in three age groups: ages 3-5; 6-9 and 10-12. Every Whoadeo participant (ages three to 12) receives a free Dixie Stampede admission ticket to the 6 p.m. dinner show on Sept. 26 with the purchase of an adult ticket.
The Parade of Horses and stick horse races begin at 9:45 a.m. in the facility’s arena. The only requirement to compete in the races is a stick horse, which can be purchased or homemade.
If participants did not register during the Food City Whoadeo coloring contest Aug. 16-Sept. 12, registration is available on-site at Dixie Stampede beginning at 8 a.m. on the day of the event.
First place winners from each age bracket of the Food City store coloring contest compete alongside other registrants in a series of Whoadeo competitions, including a parade of stick horses and stick horse barrel races, both of which take place in the Dixie Stampede arena. Contestants compete for first, second and third place trophies in each competition in each of the three age brackets, culminating in a Whoadeo grand prize trophy winner.
All children must be accompanied by a parent and/or guardian. Families are invited to attend the Whoadeo carnival from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Dixie Stampede parking lot. Each Whoadeo participant receives a Kid’s Club backpack from Food City, while supplies last, and a one-day child’s admission ticket to Dollywood. Food City also will provide complimentary hotdogs and Pepsi will provide soft drinks.
