Two women working at a spa in Seymour face prostitution charges after an undercover sting by the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office.
On Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office Street Crimes Unit conducted an undercover sting operation at Luck’s Spa, 10520 Chapman Hwy. in Seymour, after a tip that the business was being used for prostitution.
Officers arrested and charged 54-year-old Soon D Kwan, of 425 Broad Ave. Leonia, N.J., with prostitution and impersonating a licensed professional. Nam Sum Optiz, 63, of 1602 Danbury Drive in Norcross, Ga., was charged with promoting prostitution and impersonating a licensed professional. Both women were living at the Luck’s Spa address.
Kwan and Optiz are being held at the Sevier County Jail while awaiting arraignment before a judge.
An undercover sting in July of 2014 at Royal Spa, which operated at the same address, also resulted in prostitution arrests.
All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
