Sevierville Police Warn of Counterfeit Money Being Passed

The Sevierville Police Department is warning businesses to be on the lookout for counterfeit money after reports of bogus bills used at several local businesses.

According to police, six businesses reported that they received counterfeit $10, $20 and/or $50 bills, and noted that use of counterfeit money checking pens indicated the money was counterfeit.

Police recommend that businesses instruct their employees to be vigilant and check all suspect money. They should report any instances of counterfeit money use to the Sevierville Police Department or their local law enforcement agency. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about counterfeit money use or production should call 865-453-5506.
