Sheriff Investigating Death at Kodak Off Road Park

A man died on Saturday after being hit by an off road vehicle at the Kodak Off Road Park.

The Sevier County Sheriff’s Office said it is investigating the death of 52-year-old Jackie Taylor of Kodak on Feb. 27, 2016 at the Kodak Off Road Park on Fortenberry Road.

Witnesses told responding officers that Taylor, a spectator at the attraction, was struck after he stepped into the path of an off road buggy driven by Richard Scott Goforth, age 43, of Kodak. EMS transported Taylor to LeConte Medical Center in Sevierville where he was pronounced dead.

According to the attraction’s facebook page, the event on Saturday was a ticketed event to watch off road vehicles compete for a purse in events such as a Tug-O-War and Obstacle Course.
