Wildfire Burns Down Gatlinburg Home

Fire officials say a home in the Glades area was completely destroyed by a wildfire on Thursday.

The Gatlinburg Fire Department was investigating reports of smoke in the Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community at about 1:45 p.m. on April 21, 2016 when personnel discovered a 4-acre wildfire that had spread to a residence at 970 Glades Road. Dark smoke could be seen billowing into the sky and according to Fire Chief Greg Miller; the two-story cabin was fully involved in fire when they arrived. The department did not say what sparked the fire.

No injuries were reported. The property owner, who is out of state, was notified of the fire.
