LeConte Medical Center has been included on the 2016 list of 100 Great Community Hospitals in the U.S. compiled by Becker’s Hospital Review.
The Becker’s editorial team selected community hospitals around the country based on rankings and awards from a variety of healthcare organizations, including iVantage Health Analytics, Truven Health Analytics, Healthgrades, CareChex, the American Nurses Credentialing Center and the Leapfrog Group. Hospitals on the list have earned recognition from one or more of these organizations.
Becker’s defines a community hospital as one with fewer than 550 beds and minimal teaching programs. “The hospitals on this list are spread across the country, some not far from major metro areas and some in rural communities. Regardless of location or whether they are affiliated with a major system, these hospitals are vital parts of their respective communities,” said Becker’s in a press release.
“We are pleased that our hospital has been recognized by yet another national organization,” said Jenny Hanson, LeConte’s president and chief administrative officer. “Our hospital staff strives for excellence in quality clinical care, patient safety, and the patient experience.”
“We offer excellent diagnostic technology, such as our 64-slice CT scanner. We have a cardiac cath lab, four surgical suites, and two endoscopy suites,” she noted. LeConte Medical Center also is home to the Dolly Parton Birthing Unit, the Dolly Parton Center for Women’s Services, and the only hospital-based sleep disorders center in Sevier County. Thompson Cancer Survival Center – Sevier is also located on the campus. The medical center has been nationally recognized for its attractive facilities and comfortable patient care environment.
As a member of Covenant Health, the hospital is able to offer direct access to specialists and services throughout the region’s largest healthcare system. “Our patients have access to advanced care and medical innovations close to home,” Hanson said. “We’re well-equipped to serve the needs of our growing community.”
“We are proud of the quality of care and the staff dedication at LeConte and at hospitals throughout the Covenant Health system,” said Mike Belbeck, Covenant Health executive vice president of operations. “It’s always gratifying to have their hard work and heartfelt commitment to excellence recognized on a national level.”
