Alleged Drug Dealers Arrested in Operation March Madness

Authorities began rounding up suspected drug dealers this morning in the culmination of a 9-month undercover drug investigation dubbed March Madness.

A Sevier County Grand Jury indicted 79 people last week as a result of the March Madness undercover investigation by the Sevier County Street Crimes Unit and agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Officers from Sevier County Sheriff’s Office; Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms; Homeland Security; US Marshals Service; Tenn. Dept. of Corrections; and the police departments of Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg set out at 5 a.m. on March 8, 2017 and by day’s end had arrested 34 of the suspected drug dealers.

According to Sheriff Ron Seals, officers seized seven vehicles, $4,000 in cash, illegal drugs and a handgun from the suspects.

Among those arrested was a former Gatlinburg Police Officer accused of distributing drugs while on duty.
