Sevier County Sheriff Searching for Seymour Carjacking Suspects

Authorities are looking for four men involved in an attempted carjacking at the Food City in Seymour on Saturday.

The Sevier County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at 4:39 p.m. on April 22, 2017 regarding shots fired and an attempted vehicle theft in the parking lot of the Food City on Chapman Highway in Seymour. The victim told responding officers that four subjects approached him while he sat in his vehicle with a friend. One suspect got into the passenger seat and armed with a handgun, demanded the victim and his friend get out of the vehicle. As the victims tried to get away, the subject fired the handgun inside the vehicle, jumped out and fired more rounds at the victim’s car as he was fleeing. Neither the victim nor his friend were injured during the attempted carjacking.

Detectives are looking for four male suspects driving a charcoal grey 2014 Jeep Patriot with Knox County tags. Investigators say they have several leads and are asking anyone that witnessed the carjacking or may have information to contact the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office at 865-453-4668.
