Authorities are searching for two inmates that escaped from the Sevier County Jail on Monday.
According to Sevier County Sheriff Ron Seals, jail guards monitoring surveillance cameras saw two inmates jump a perimeter fence outside the jail at 12:30 a.m. on May 22, 2017. Corrections officers pursued the inmates on foot but they eluded the officers. Members of the Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Team, Sevierville Police Department and U.S. Marshal’s Service Fugitive Task Force continue to search for the pair.
The escaped inmates were identified as 34-year-old Clyde Lee Martin and Robert A. Sosa, age 27, both of Sevierville. Martin was being held on a $15,000 bond for Theft over $10,000 and Violation of Probation. Sosa was being held on a $75,000 bond for Assault, 2 counts of Auto Theft, Aggravated Burglary, Evading Arrest and Violation of Probation.
An investigation is underway to determine how the inmates got outside the jail facility.
