8 Arrested in Sevier County Sex Trafficking Sting

Authorities cracked down on Sevier County sex trafficking with an undercover sting that resulted in the arrest of eight people.

Investigators with the Sevier County Street Crimes Unit partnered with agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation in an undercover operation focused on prostitution. According to Sevier County Sheriff Ron Seals, the detectives and agents set up at a local motel and posing as clients, contacted individuals advertising on a social media website that is known for sex trafficking in the area.

Six women and two men were arrested when they allegedly showed up at the motel to meet those undercover detectives posing as clients. All face prostitution related charges. They were transported to Sevier County Jail and will have a hearing in Sevier County General Sessions Court at a later date.

All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
