4-H Career Earns Two Scholarships for Pigeon Forge Teen

Sevier County 4-H member Christy Newsom recently received the Tennessee Rural Health Nursing Scholarship valued at $1250 and the Eastern Region Family Community Education Club Scholarship valued at $300. The Rural Health Scholarship is renewable.

Christy is a 2017 graduate of Pigeon Forge High School and will study nursing this fall at Union University in Jackson, Tenn. Christy has been an active 4-H member since fourth grade where she got her start in Mrs. Bogart’s 4-H Club at Sevierville Intermediate School. These scholarships are the result of Christy’s 4-H project work. Highlights of Christy’s 4-H career include being named the 2016 State Winner in the 4-H Photography Project and being named the State Winner in the 4-H Public Speaking Contest as a tenth grader.
