Authorities allege that a woman who served as treasurer for the New Center Little League Football Association stole thousands of dollars from the organization.
Detectives arrested 41-year-old Misty L. Trentham, of Sevierville, on March 8, 2018 following a Sevier County Grand Jury indictment for Felony Theft over $10,000. Trentham allegedly embezzled money from the bank account of New Center Little League Football Association, a youth sports organization for which she served as treasurer, during a period between June 2017 and January 2018.
A report filed last month by the president of the organization prompted the investigation by the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division and led to the arrest.
Trentham was released on bond and will have an arraignment hearing at a later date in Sevier County Circuit Court.
New Center Little League Football Association is not affiliated with Little League International, the world’s largest organized youth sports program.
“In regards to the situation regarding New Center Little League Football Association, this youth football association is not affiliated with Little League Baseball, Incorporated, and is actually not permitted to use Little League in their association name,” said Brian McClintock, senior director of communications with Little League International.
Its business registration with the state of Tennessee shows it as Inactive–Dissolved in 2014.
