The Jefferson County Sheriff says the body found in a bag along the shoreline of Douglas Lake last weekend was a victim of homicide and is asking the public to help identify the remains.
About 4:30 p.m. on March 10, 2019, deputies were dispatched to a home on Lake Ridge Drive in Dandridge after the resident reported seeing a suspicious bag next to the lakeshore. Deputies determined the bag contained human remains. The body was transported to the Regional Forensic Center in Knoxville for further examination.
The Criminal Investigation Division, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and the Attorney General’s Office are investigating. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency joined investigators on the lake Tuesday, searching for further evidence that may be related to this homicide case.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public’s assistance with identifying the body found in a bag. Authorities say the body appears to be an adult male and that he was wearing a Walking Dead t-shirt and blue jeans. The name “Gerald” was found on the clothing. The victim had no visible tattoos. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 865-397-9411 or the TBI at 1-800-TBI FIND.
