Pigeon Forge Police Shoot Armed Man while Serving Arrest Warrant

A knife-wielding man was shot and killed by Pigeon Forge police after an attempt to serve an arrest warrant allegedly escalated to a fatal confrontation on Monday morning.

Officers with the Pigeon Forge Police Department went to the Glenshiel apartments located at 2806 Suncrest Drive to serve an arrest warrant for 42-year-old Samuel Charles Talbott on Monday, April 15, 2019.

“When Talbott was confronted, he produced a knife and grabbed another individual who was inside the residence,” the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said in a release. “Talbott refused to comply with numerous verbal commands to drop the weapon. The situation escalated and resulted in one of the officers firing at least one shot, striking Talbott.”

TBI Special Agents are investigating the shooting and will present their findings to 4th District Attorney General James Dunn for review.

“The suspect was shot one time by an officer,” says Pigeon Forge Police Chief Richard Catlett.

Talbot was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was injured during the incident. In accordance with agency policy, the TBI did not identify the officer involved.
