Police Holding Child Safety Seat Check after Issuing 61 Warnings at Local School

As part of their effort to educate parents and caregivers and help keep our children safe, Sevierville Police Department officers were checking vehicles for proper child safety seats on Thursday at the Sevierville Primary School.

As parents and caregivers were dropping-off children in the morning and picking them up in the afternoon, officers were standing by. A total of sixty-one warnings were given to drivers. Officers provided a copy of the child passenger restraint law along with the warnings to each driver.

Parents and caregivers can come by the Sevierville Police Department on Saturday, August 24, 2019 between 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. for a free child safety seat check. Also, for those who cannot afford a child safety seat, the department may be able to provide one at no cost. Please call 865-453-5507 for further information.

Officers plan to periodically be present throughout the school year at area schools checking vehicles for proper child safety seats.
