The Alcatraz East Crime Museum will be opening the second in a series of temporary exhibits exploring the history of the Second Amendment.
“The Second Amendment: Conceal Carry” will be opening on September 23, 2019. This is part two of a temporary exhibit that explores the historical evolution of the Second Amendment. This exhibit will include “curiosities,” firearms that are smaller than the standard sidearm, or designed to appear as something else.
Several other temporary exhibits are also currently on display.
Disaster Response after September 11th
The Alcatraz East Crime Museum hosted a special 9/11 event on Saturday, September 7, 2019, titled “Response After September 11.” The event featured guest speaker Art Bohanan, a forensics expert who worked on the site of Ground Zero, and is author of the book “Prints of Man.” Artifacts from Bohanan’s experience at Ground Zero are displayed at the museum, and he will share his first-hand experience as part of the forensic team identifying human remains following the attacks on the World Trade Center. Seating is limited and on a first come, first serve basis.
Ted Bundy Display for 30-Year Execution Anniversary
Due to popular demand, this display is being extended through the end of 2019. It includes letters, cards and photos from one of the most well known serial killers of the 20th century, and a radio given to Bundy by his mother that he kept until he was moved to death row. Alcatraz East also features Bundy’s 1968 Volkswagen Beetle.
