A Sevierville man wanted in connection with a hit and run that left two children seriously inured turned himself to authorities.

47-year-old Pablo Hernandez, of Sevierville, was arrested and charged with felony leaving the scene of an accident with serious bodily injury, after he allegedly hit two children just before 7 a.m. on Thursday morning near 701 West Main Street and then left the scene.

Following the incident, detectives with the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office received information as to the identity of the driver. Shortly thereafter the driver came to the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office of his own accord. Hernandez was placed under arrest after being interviewed by investigators. A citation for operating a vehicle without a valid driver’s license is pending.

The two children reportedly struck by Hernandez were transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center. The 6-year-old male victim is in critical condition and the 16-year-old male victim has multiple non-life threatening injuries.

Anyone with information regarding this incident that has not already been in contact with law enforcement is asked to call SPD Sgt. Graham Brantley at 865-868-1748.

All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
