The Tennessee Department of Health announced Monday its first confirmed case of Coronavirus in Sevier County and that the total number of cases is now 52 statewide.
According to the update on March 16, 2020, Davidson has the most active COVID-19 cases at 25, followed by 18 in Williamson, 2 in Shelby and one in each of Campbell, Hamilton, Jefferson, Knox, Rutherford, Sevier and Sullivan counties.
“The Sevier County Mayor’s office received confirmation from the Tennessee Department of Health of the county’s first positive case of COVID-19,” said Perrin Anderson, Assistant County Mayor for Governmental Affairs. “Anyone who tests positive is quarantined. There has been no community transmission in Sevier County.”
According to county officials, the person who tested positive had traveled internationally and acquired the virus overseas. They have been quarantined since returning to the U.S.
The Tennessee Public Health Laboratory tested a total of 289 people statewide for COVID-19, 270 were negative and 19 positive. Commercial and private laboratories had 33 positive tests. The number of COVID-19 cases statewide is now 52.
Agency policy prohibits the release the age of specific Coronavirus cases to protect patient privacy, but cases spanned all age groups.

How will we know if we have come in contact with whoever has it? I realize HIPPA plays into this but we need to know if we need to quarantine ourselves!!!
