Tennessee health officials confirmed a second Sevier County COVID-19 case on Saturday.
The Saturday, March 21, 2020 COVID-19 update from the Tennessee Department of Health included a second confirmed case of of COVID-19 in Sevier County.
A total of 371 cases are now confirmed in the state, with 140 cases confirmed in Davidson County.
The agency noted that cases among Tennessee residents are counted by their county of residence. 69 residents of other states or countries who were tested at Tennessee healthcare facilities are counted as “Residents of Other States/Countries” and included in the table as Out of TN or Unknown, not in the county totals.
We asked the agency if other than the Sevier County cases in the table, it could confirm if any of the other COVID-19 cases visited Sevier County at any time in the last 30 days. Specifically, if any cases were tourists who visited Sevier County, even if they are listed by residence in another county, state, or country in the table.
“The only information we are able to provide on COVID-19 cases is what’s included on the COVID-19 website,” said Bill Christian, associate director of the Office of Communication & Media Relations.
The state’s public health laboratory has performed 694 coronavirus tests, with 52 confirmed positive. The remaining 319 positive cases were tested at commercial and private laboratories.
Confirmed COVID-19 patients spanned all age ranges. The highest number of cases in a single age group was the 21-30 years of age with 122 cases.

out of town & unknown? were they tested here and live elsewhere? Shouldn’t we be concerned about the tourist traffic bringing this infection here?
