Four Persons Arrested on Felony Vandalism Charges for Sign Damage

Law enforcement arrested four people in connection with vandalism of abortion and campaign signs at two different Sevier County locations this weekend.

Officers from the Sevierville Police Department charged four persons with felony vandalism after investigating two incidents of sign vandalism on Sunday, October 25, 2020.

SPD Officer Jacob Mattern responded to the Sevier County Election Commission, located at 1145 Dolly Parton Parkway, at about 7:30 a.m. and found six campaign signs vandalized with red spray paint.

Later in the day on Sunday, SPD Sgt. Anna Jordan responded to the area of Veterans Boulevard and Collier Drive and found an anti-abortion sign and small wooden crosses vandalized with red spray paint. During her investigation, Sgt. Jordan discovered a red spray paint can lid that included the spray paint brand.

The officers worked with store staff at the Walmart Supercenter, 1414 Parkway in Sevierville, to identify a person who purchased the same brand of red spray paint on Saturday, October 24. That purchase led officers to an address on Valley Road in Sevierville where they interviewed four persons who were ultimately charged with the sign vandalism at both locations.

22-year-old Bailey Brackins of Sevierville; Chelsey Christina Ogle, 22, of Knoxville; Jazed Ucles, 23, of Sevierville; and Joshua Jones, 21, of Strawberry Plains, were each charged with felony vandalism over the amount of $1,000.
