Sevier County Sheriff’s Office Earns Certificate of Meritorious Accreditation

The Sevier County Sheriff’s Office has been awarded the Certificate of Meritorious Accreditation by the Tennessee Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (TLEA).

Sheriff Ron Seals made the decision over six years ago that the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office would become a state accredited agency under the Tennessee Law Enforcement Accreditation Program and after three years of hard work by members of the department that goal was achieved and on January 30, 2014 when the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office was first awarded a Certificate of Meritorious Accreditation.

To maintain that accreditation status, the sheriff’s office must every three years meet all 160 standards of the Tennessee Law Enforcement Accreditation Program, meaning the department repeats the process after each accreditation achievement.

This past week the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office received its second Certificate of Meritorious Accreditation. The award was presented at the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police meeting held in Franklin, Tenn. on April 6, 2017. Present at the meeting was Sevier County Sheriff’s Office Accreditation Officers Lt. Gary Kent and Leia Loveday, who accepted the award on behalf of the department.
