Shirley Pitner was named 2017 FCE Best of the Best for the Eastern Region (FCE) Family & Community Education Clubs. This honor was based on her active involvement with her Seymour Club and community, as well as leadership in the organization. She was recognized at the State FCE Conference in Knoxville for her achievement.
Shirley is a charter member of the Seymour Club since it originated in 1975. During that time she has served as various officers and active in Regional and State events. Community service projects have been her passion. Two major projects included mats for the homeless, and assembling 300 cookbooks for CROSS Ministry. An example of her dedication is rolling over 1,000 balls of plastic bag strips, which are crocheted into mats for the homeless!
As a professional caregiver, she has served 23 individuals with 13,874 hours through Home Instead Care, and has been awarded Caregiver of the Year.
Shirley Pitner continues to be active in the Family Community Education Club of Seymour and enjoys monthly meetings.
