County officials are planning the 21st Annual Sevier County Job Fair later this month.
The event has grown every year, offering many job opportunities for the people of Sevier County while assisting businesses in fulfilling their staffing needs, according the Sevier County Economic Development Council. The council hosts the event in conjunction with Sevier County and cities of Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.
The Sevier County Job Fair will be held Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at the Holiday Inn Convention Center located at 3230 Parkway in Pigeon Forge (Just past traffic light #6). The doors will open at 10 a.m. and company representatives will be available to speak with and interview job seekers on site until 4 p.m.
Job seekers are encouraged to bring copies of their resume. A Career Coach sponsored by the Tennessee Department of Workforce Development will be on site all day and features a mobile computer lab with internet access, as well as workshops for resume writing and interviewing skills. Jobseekers that need help with their resume are encouraged to take advantage of services offered by the Career Coach.

The job fair comes at a time when many local businesses are staffing for the upcoming tourism season. According to the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development, unemployment in Sevier County jumped from 2.9% in December 2017 to 6.1% in January 2018 as the last tourism season ended. The agency says 3,150 people out of the county’s 51,250-person labor force were unemployed in January. That placed Sevier County in the top ten counties for highest unemployment statewide.
