Visit Gatlinburg on Thursday for great food, music and fun during the annual Beans and Cornbread Festival.
The Gatlinburg Beans and Cornbread Festival will be held May 14, 2015 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the Parkway between traffic light numbers 6 and 8. Admission is free.
The star of the event is a beans and cornbread cook-off in which area restaurants, businesses and caterers compete for top honors. Event attendees can purchase a spoon for $10 to sample the contest recipes. Bush Brothers & Company presents the Gatlinburg Beans and Cornbread Festival and recipes available for tasting will feature Bush’s Beans.
In addition to the cook-off, there will be live Smoky Mountain music and new this year, antique engines on display.
“The antique engines are a unique addition to the festival this year,” said city spokesperson, Marci Claude. “We really want to showcase the old way of doing things in the mountains.”
There will be a Corn Hole Tournament from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Teams can register at the event. The entry fee is $10 with proceeds benefitting the Sevier County Humane Society.
