The Gatlinburg Farmers Market will officially open May 16, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. The first 50 people on opening day will receive a free plant.
The Gatlinburg Farmers Market will be held every Saturday May 16 – Oct 17, 2015 from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Vendors sell an array of fruits and vegetables, meats, eggs, honey, prepared foods, baked goods, artisanal products. The market also features arts and crafts demonstrations.
“We are extremely excited about this market season, as we start a few new things at the market,” says new market manager Stacey Adam. “As of May 23rd we will be accepting EBT/SNAP. Come to the Market booth to find out how it works. We are also going to have a great line up of special events every 2nd Saturday and a Kids’ Day every 4th Saturday. Our special events will be a Health, Nutrition, and Sustainable Living Day, a Cooking Demonstration Day, a Canning and Food Preservation Day, a Seed Swap Day and an Apple Festival. For our Kids’ Days, kids will be able to participate in a free activity and enjoy a market wide scavenger hunt. While we are very excited about these new things, we are most excited to have all of our vendors and community back together for another great season.”
A few openings remain for market vendors. Four internship opportunities are also available. Visit www.gatlinburgfarmersmarket.com or call 865-332-4769 for more information.
