Sevierville Farmers Market Hosting Revolutionary War Re-enactors, Fun Activities in Patriotic Celebration

The Farmers Market at Sevierville Commons is a great place to purchase fresh meats and produce for your 4th of July celebrations while also having fun and learning a thing or two about the Revolutionary War.

The weekly Sevierville Farmers Market, held every Friday in historic downtown Sevierville, will celebrate the birth of our nation a day early on market day, Friday, July 3, 2015, with patriotic special events and guests, including Revolutionary War re-enactors providing demonstrations and displays, a greased watermelon relay for children ages 5-12 and a hot dog eating challenge between Sevierville police and fire departments.

“The Farmers Market at Sevierville Commons has enjoyed a very positive start,” says event organizer Muriel Simpson. “We’re only a few weeks old and we’ve already seen great growth with the addition of new vendors and a healthy turnout every Friday. Adding in these special attractions to celebrate the 4th of July is a fun way to bring even more enjoyment to the market.”

Planned vendors include: both conventional and organic produce; a variety of fresh baked breads, pies and gourmet cupcakes; blackberries; honey; certified Longhorn steer meat and Black Angus beef; jams, jellies and preserves; fried pies; fresh squeezed orange juice; mushrooms; ground coffee; fresh cut flowers; soaps; pottery; scarves; mosquito oils; worm castings; watercolor notes; book letters; a hot dog vendor and more.

The Sevierville Farmers Market at the Commons will be open 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Friday, July 3, 2015 and the schedule of events is as follows:

Greased Watermelon Relay (children ages 5-12) begins at 11 a.m.

The Sevierville Police Department vs. Sevierville Fire Department in a Hot Dog Eating Challenge – 11:30 a.m.

Revolutionary War Re-enactors, Demonstrations and Displays from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
