Seymour Fireman Nominated for Fireman of the Year

A fireman with the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department is in the running to become Fireman of the Year.

Americanism is one of the Four Pillars of the American Legion. As a part of this program, each Post of the American Legion annually nominates a Policeman, Fireman, EMT, or Eagle Scout of the Year.

American Legion Post 104 in Sevierville held a dinner on Feb. 2, 2016 to honor the American Legion Fireman of the Year. In attendance was Deputy Fire Chief Rob Taylor and his wife Tracy, and Lt. Andrew Scruggs and his wife Lorri.

This year, Post 104 nominated Lt. Andrew Scruggs, Seymour Volunteer Fire Department. Lt. Scruggs represents your local American Legion Post. Lt. Scruggs is responsible for Fire and Life Safety Education for the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department.

Having submitted Lt. Scruggs’s nomination in early January, his nomination has moved forward to the point of his selection to be one of eight for the final selection for Fireman of the Year for the State of Tennessee. Should Lt. Scruggs receive the ultimate selection of Fireman of the Year, he will then be representing the State of Tennessee in a National Competition.

Congratulations to Lt. Andrew Scruggs for this nomination and the veterans of American Legion Post 104 who look forward to his representation of East Tennessee in the State of Tennessee final competition.
