Sevier County 4-H members recently brought home honors in the Eastern Region Sub-Regional held in Newport, and Regional Public Speaking Contest in Knoxville.
Fourth through eighth grade county winners from nine surrounding counties participated in the Sub-Regional Contest in Newport. Sevier County winners participating included:
- 4th grade – Reed Bull, Catlettsburg Elementary
- 5th grade – Tyson McFall, New Center
- 6th grade – Grady Branton, Sevierville Middle
- 7th grade – Katelyn Hedrick – Homeschool
- 8th grade – Dan Branton, Sevierville Middle

Sevier County took home first place finishes in two of the grade divisions, along with a second & third place in two other grade divisions with Reed placing first in 4th grade; Katelyn placing first in 7th grade, Grady placing second in 6th grade and Dan placing third in 8th grade.
Ninth through twelfth grade county winners from 33 counties took part in the Regional Public Speaking Contest in Knoxville. Sevier County winners participating included:
- 9th grade – Lindsey Hedrick, Homeschool
- 11th grade – Christy Newsom, Pigeon Forge High School
- 12th grade – Rachel Jenkins, Pigeon Forge High School

Lindsey took first place in the 9th grade division and has qualified to compete at the state level later this month in Nashville. Christy and Rachel both placed second in their respective grade levels.
