Sevier 4-H Kids Do Well at Eastern Region Sheep Expo

Sevier County 4-H Members recently brought home honors at the Eastern Region 4-H Sheep Expo at the Tennessee Valley Fairgrounds in Knoxville.

Luke and Anna Pendleton had a good day showing Katadin sheep in the Breeding Ewe Show. Luke had first place entries with his intermediate junior ewe lamb, the early junior ewe lamb and the senior yearling ewe. His intermediate junior ewe was named the overall Grand Champion and the Grand Champion Brebby Exhibitor Katadin. Additionally, his junior ewe lamb was named the Reserve Grand Champion Bred by Exhibitor Katadin. Luke placed 3rd in his Breeding Ewe Showmanship Class. Luke will be a junior at Seymour High School this fall.

Anna had the following placings with her Katadin Breeding Ewes. Second with the Senior Yearling, third with the Early Junior Ewe and fourth with the Late Junior Ewe lamb. Anna will be a freshman at Seymour High School this fall. Both Luke & Anna have been very active in the 4-H Sheep Project for the past three years.

First year 4-H member and sheep exhibitor Charlie Majors participated in both the Market Lamb and Commercial Ewe Shows. Charlie had a class winner with his 88-pound Market Lamb and placed 5th with his 104-pound Market Lamb. His Commercial Ewe placed fifth in its class. In Showmanship, Charlie placed second in the First Year Exhibitors Explorer Classes for both Market Lambs and Commercial Ewe Classes. Charlie will be a fifth grader at Catlettsburg Elementary School this fall.
