For the 10th year, Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede has partnered with Food City stores and Pepsi for the fun-filled Whoadeo kid’s event.
The Whoadeo will be held at Dixie Stampede, located on the Parkway in Pigeon Forge, on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016. Registration begins at 8 a.m. The Parade of Horses and stick horse races begin at 9:45 a.m. in the facility’s arena. The only requirement to compete in the Whoadeo is a stick horse, which can be purchased or homemade.
For this special anniversary celebration, the first 500 children in attendance will receive a special goody bag. Open to children ages three to 12, activities include stick horse competitions, a parade of horses, and costume contests in the Dixie Stampede arena and a free outdoor carnival 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Children will participate in three age groups: ages 3-5; 6-9 and 10-12. Every Whoadeo participant (ages three to 12) receives a free Dixie Stampede admission ticket to the 3:30 p.m. dinner show on Oct. 1.
“This is Food City’s 10th year to join Dixie Stampede for our family-friendly Whoadeo event,” said Steven C. Smith, president and CEO of Food City. “From returning competitors to first-time participants, this event celebrates creativity in an atmosphere that’s fun for everyone.”
Registrants take part in a series of Whoadeo competitions, including a “parade of stick horses” and “stick horse barrel races,” both of which will take place in the Dixie Stampede arena. Contestants will compete for first, second and third place trophies in each competition in each of three age brackets—ages 3-5, 6-9 and 10-12—culminating in a Whoadeo grand prize trophy winner.
All children must be accompanied by a parent and/or guardian. Families are invited to attend the Whoadeo carnival from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Dixie Stampede parking lot. Food City will provide complimentary snacks for participating children, and Pepsi will provide soft drinks. Each Whoadeo participant also will receive a Kid’s Club backpack from Food City (while supplies last) and a one-day child’s ticket to Dollywood.
