Dolly Parton’s Smoky Mountain Adventures a Story of Love and Rivalry

Dolly Parton was in Pigeon Forge today for the opening of her new Smoky Mountain Adventures Dinner & Show. Fans lined up outside the theater, which formerly housed the Lumberjack Adventure Dinner Show, to catch a glimpse of Dolly getting off her tour bus and entering the new home of her Smoky Mountain Adventures Dinner & Show for the premier on Friday afternoon. Dolly took to the stage to open the show, a romantic tale of her parents meeting and a rivalry between the Owens and the Partons that features fast-paced and friendly competitions, acrobatics, theatrical performances set to Dolly's songs and storytelling by Dolly. “The guests who have been previewing the show love it,” Parton said. “This is a story about my family that is fun and exciting but there is also a lot of heart. It’s a sweet story about my parents meeting but it is also an exciting competition between the Owens and the Partons.” The success of NBC movies about her childhood, "Coat of Many Colors" and "Christmas of Many Colors," inspired Dolly to create the show.
